I found out that 1 physical disk is having UREs, however reporting itself as healthy. Tried to evict/eject it, but this didn't succeed. Have tried every repair method floating around with no luck. Did you find any graceful resolution for yourself?! @Scott: Do you have any further idea?! Pls. let me know!

Many thanks in advance, Norbert

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17965980776287437409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1504511956478328271.post-34080984390726887522020-04-19T17:13:54.189-07:002020-04-19T17:13:54.189-07:00Hi Scott

One (of three) virtual disks is showing "no redundancy". I've been able to live migrate some VM storage off, and the remainder that wouldn't copy has been restored from backup.

Now what is the best approach for replacing the disk? (I have replacement drive on the way from Dell.)

Can I simply retire the disk and then replace? What happens to any data that may be on that disk and used by other virtual disks? (They show as healthy.)
Can this be done with the server live or should I pause this one from FCM?

Thanks,
Jon
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05966599999476826666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1504511956478328271.post-66181788066602890952019-03-15T15:46:51.262-07:002019-03-15T15:46:51.262-07:00S2D doesn't support RAID disksS2D doesn't support RAID disksScott Kreelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01315484792584557541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1504511956478328271.post-69560119148488308632019-03-15T15:26:31.140-07:002019-03-15T15:26:31.140-07:00Wouldn't the marginal disk problems be resolve...Wouldn't the marginal disk problems be resolved by using a hardware array controller in each node? That way the OS would always think the disk is good until enough drives fail to compromise the raid.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13754479451089307218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1504511956478328271.post-46495883124122901892019-02-13T11:39:23.406-08:002019-02-13T11:39:23.406-08:00I don't really have anything but check out the...I don't really have anything but check out these resources:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/storage-spaces/deploy-storage-spaces-direct

People are very helpful on the slack channels:
https://storagespacesdirect.slack.com
Scott Kreelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01315484792584557541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1504511956478328271.post-85759340859308700432019-02-12T11:33:59.700-08:002019-02-12T11:33:59.700-08:00Hi, do you have any document to do s2d in good man...Hi, do you have any document to do s2d in good manner, can you please share it balettanarun@gmail.comArun Balanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03041712670676288070noreply@blogger.com
